Virgo season 2025: hot sexy ruthless critic of everything existing
Hello Virgo season! Welcome to girl moss, compost energy, down to earth vibes, high standards, coy giggles, refusal to settle, uncompromising on what matters, systems thinking, force multiplying, hot sexy ruthless critic of everything existing. In the words of Virgo ancestor Mary Oliver "You do not have to be good, you don't have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles in the desert repenting."
Theodor Adorno: the Virgo stellium who hated astrology SO MUCH he wrote a book about it, titled The Stars Down To Earth. Can’t think of anything more Virgo than writing a book-length rant.
G.W.F. Hegel, speculative philosopher, dialectician extraordinaire. Tarrying with the negative gives peak Virgo. I imagine the owl of Minerva (and Minerva herself) are Virgos or have thicc Virgo houses. After all, in the teaching of Demetra George and Chani Nicholas, Virgo symbolises the woman who owns herself.
The classical assignment of Virgo as Virgin was not a commentary on prudishness, it was a commentary on property relations. The temple virgins were not literal virgins. But because their sexuality was tied to goddess worship, they were not to be owned by the men who had sex with them (unlike wives, who were treated as their husbands’ property). They temple virgins already belonged to the divine and were a different class of woman altogether. There was a purity of purpose here, a sense of being wed to a higher way of being.
I am a Virgo sun so when I first read this, my mind was blown. No astrology meme or pop horoscope had ever told me this about my sign: everybody seemed to fixate on ideas of a stereotypically fussy, detail-obsessed, buttoned-up hypercritical nerd that nobody supposedly liked very much. This view of Virgo was more dynamic, expansive and aligned with what I felt to be true about myself and other Virgos I knew. It was then that I knew that I had to learn more about classical astrology and Hellenistic astrology specifically.
Celebrate the beauty of being enough with a birth chart reading with me, a queer professional Hellenistic astrologer in Melbourne.
Or if there's a Virgo you love, treat them to a reading. It's a thoughtful way of saying "Stop reading me, go get yourself read."
