South node lunar eclipse in Virgo: unclenching, releasing, phasing out
This week's main event is the south node lunar eclipse in Virgo, with Mercury (Virgo's ruler) retrograde in Pisces.
In mundane astrology (the ancient astrology of global politics) eclipses were associated with public falls from grace, regime change and shifting world orders. We’ve certainly been seeing a fair few global incidents demonstrating this.
In natal astrology, eclipses are about shifts in light, visibility, and legibility. Eclipses are when we come home to our blind spots. A south node eclipse carries the same quality as a toilet flushing on a psychic and spiritual level. In medical astrology Virgo rules the digestive system. It’s a time to check in and ask: what needs flushing? What's an unnecessary weight you've chosen to bear and why? Where can you practice letting go? Where can you unclench more?
As is the case with eclipses, sometimes life does the prompting and it can feel like there's not much personal choice. South node eclipses are also invitations to practice radical acceptance, to consider faith and generosity, to meet life (and your own shadow) with realism and gentleness.
To discuss the role of eclipses in your life, book a reading with a queer Melbourne astrologer or give someone lovely the gift of an astrology reading.
