Virgo, girl moss & tonight’s lunar eclipse
This week's astro weather: full-on eclipse season amidst the Venus retrograde and the upcoming Mercury retrograde!
First up, the full moon lunar eclipse in Virgo, before Mercury (the ruler of Virgo) commences its first retrograde in 2025. During this eclipse the full moon conjoins the South Node in Virgo, opposite the Sun-Saturn conjunction in Pisces where the north node lies.
Eclipses are system shocks--when the sky appears to eat the sun, or when parts of your life you've tended to overlook are suddenly swamped with so much light you can't stop looking.
The Virgo-Pisces axis is about standards (Virgo) and fuzzy edges (Pisces), clarity (Virgo) and permissiveness/some might say forgiveness (Pisces). The moon is interiority, the senses, the unconscious; the sun, expressiveness, impact, directed will. Depending on where Virgo and Pisces are in your chart ask yourself: what attitudes, ideas, and people should you release for the next era of your life to feel and be different to the previous ones?
In medical astrology Virgo rules the digestive system. Virgo loves a good deep cleanse—on the level of body, mind and spirit.
Virgo may not seem like a sign that lets things go but that is exactly what motivates all of Virgo’s behaviour. The nervousness, the fussiness, the perfectionism, the endless confirmation/validation seeking, the pursuit of usefulness, all lead up to what Virgo wants the most: release. A deep exhale. To step back, lie down, girl moss, to become one with lichen: the most earth-sign of gestures when you think about it. Only after ritual purging can one settle into the pose of the supplicant, the one who trusts that we are in a supportive universe.
