Scorpio Moon & katabasis

The Scorpio Moon is a fallen moon, longing to be in Taurus, its exaltation sign.  In its full moon state, it feels naked, self-conscious, put on display against its will.

Scorpio is a burrower, spelunker, deep sea diver. Scorpio loves secrets, hidden treasures, dirty taboos. The drama. The plot twist. The revenge arc. Nocturnal and watery, this is the surgeon’s Mars, the Mars that cuts through any defence of the unconscious. The hermeneutics of suspicion describes how Scorpio Moon works, as opposed to the more reparative qualities of the exalted Taurus Moon. Uncompromising, unyielding, Scorpio Moon is lover, fighter, gatekeeper of feelings so intensely experienced and so fiercely guarded, they are only truly witnessed by the few they let through.

Scorpio Moon struggles with their own unlovability. Despite their loyalty to the few they hold dear, Scorpio Moon can’t believe they are worthy of loyalty, generosity, safety. To love a Scorpio Moon is to create a space for them to fall apart and know there’s still a home to which they can return again and again. That embarrassment, bad days, mood swings and rage quits won’t send you running. Despite Scorpio Moon’s curiosity and comfort in the darker end of the psyche, Scorpio Moons cringe at the prospect of showing their soft underbelly even to their closest ones.

Scorpio Moons are notorious for vengefulness and paranoia but this only happens when there is a deep sense of injustice, when the Scorpio Moon is clear that they are the wronged party. When this is not clear Scorpio Moon will persist until they have the answers. Sometimes the search for answers causes more damage than the initial hurt. Scorpio Moons have good gut instincts and a Titanic load of trust issues, most of which are directed towards the self.

This year’s Full Moon in Scorpio is ruled by Mars in Aries, a domicile Mars. Fallen Moon led by a domicile Mars, this Moon questions safety, security and support. Scorpio Moons know how to survive, even thrive, with very little support. This doesn’t mean the experience doesn’t leave serious scars. Or that Scorpio Moons don’t crave the unconditional loyalty they’re so good at giving. The Scorpio Full Moon occurs right after several slow-moving planets just changed signs. Old habits may need tweaking. Old perspectives may need to be shed the way snakes emerge from old skin every now and then. Idealising what worked in the past, with people from the past, can only get you so far.
