Revenge of the Nodes: Playlist for the Lunar Nodes ingress into Taurus and Scorpio
The last time the lunar nodes were in Taurus and Scorpio was mid-1984 and mid-2003.
The nodes’ previous ingress into Taurus and Scorpio, as well as Pluto’s ingress into Scorpio, marks the birth of the first millennials. The nodes spent roughly 18 months in each sign. This generation experienced their first nodal return in 2003. The generation of young people born in mid-2003 and 2004 will come of age under these skies. The nodes are the eclipsing places, where the moon’s and sun’s paths intersect from our earthly perspective. Taurus and Scorpio are ruled by Venus and Mars respectively, and are also, as Alice Sparkly Kat points out, the signs of the Moon’s exaltation and fall. Our emotional and embodied responses to abundance and scarcity, and what we can be accessed through the senses and the psyche, might be especially reactive at this time.
The first millennials, now 36 - 38 years old, find transiting Pluto in late Capricorn sextiling the South Node in Scorpio. Depending on the angularity of the nodes’ house placements, and close conjunctions with the Ascendant, Midheaven, inner planets or fixed stars, Venus (Taurus) and Mars (Scorpio) themes from 18 years ago, will suddenly feel like a familiar sigh against your ear. Who did you think you were going to be at 18, and who are you now? What have you learned (or not learned) about love and courage? Who is still in your life from that past time? Nodes in fixed signs challenge our ideas about what’s worth keeping and what’s meant to last. What old things are worth fighting for? What are you better off releasing — for good this time.
If you are coming of age this nodal season, ask yourself: who or what pushes you to take action? How can you increase your self-awareness of your motivations and move through the world from a more honest place? Maybe you’re moving home for the first time - how do you guarantee you’re not taking the worst parts of what you thought you left all the places you leave footprints? Maybe you’ve fallen into something and you’re wondering if it’s love. You’re new at this, how in the world can you possibly know? Maybe you’ve taken up a cause and you’re watching your leaders spout principles and do the exact opposite when they think no one is looking. What does it mean to be a good person when your heroes are not heroic?
A playlist probably won’t help with all these questions but sometimes music brings relief from extreme nodal return energy. Whatever’s happening in the part of your chart that’s got the Taurus-Scorpio polarity, it’s about to get exciting. Buckle up.
